Artist Statement
Whether it be through playing dress up, writing a story or a poem, or drawing, some of my earliest childhood memories are of me finding different ways to bring my imagination to life.
As I've grown as an artist and as a person, I connect with people through my art. While my art style sometimes varies, I have found that portraiture is someting I greatly enjoy as a means of communication. Using vibrant patterns and colors to create these portraits is something I do help express and contrast some of the otherwise raw and hard to understand feelings that I experience. I believe by being vulnerable and expressing these often intense emotions I have, I can create a connection that is meaningful to others.
Mixing mediums is important to me and my process, it is like catering to my inner child. But however I choose to portray these emotions, I love to tell a story, and most importantly hope to create meaningful work that reaches a range of people which produces a sense of unity.
